My Favourite Paintings of 2017

Writer's picture: FinnleyFinnley

2017 is almost at an end so I thought I would take a look back at some of my favourite paintings from the past year....

Cats with foliage backgrounds was definitely a theme this year! They would make great note card sets which I may develop as a product for next year. It would be fun to do a dog version too!

I produced this whopper of a painting for the Pop Up Pug Cafe's Brighton event. It brings together Pug owners (and lovers) from all over the U.K for a day of coffee and dog appreciation! It's A2 in size (42 x 59.4cm) and I wanted the background to be really striking and eye catching - it was inspired by a seventies fabric pattern.

Pug's are one of my favourite breeds to paint - along with Dachshunds and Shihtzu's (of course!) Their faces are SO full of character. It's hard not to fall in love with them. Here's a Christmas commission I recently painted. I love their expressions!

All the way back in January I painted Brighton based Blogger Zoe Sugg's (aka Zoella's) gorgeous Pug Nala and she was kind enough to feature it in one of her vlogs.

October this year meant my first ever Inktober! It's a drawing challenge where you have to create an artwork using Ink for every day of October. I enjoyed it so much I decided to keep it up (although not everyday because that would be madness!) I have also added these as a custom option on my shop. They are my most affordable commissioned Pawtrait as they start from just £45 (a bloody bargain if you ask me!)

2017 has been a great year for creating artwork. Moving to Hastings has meant I have been able to concentrate my time fully on my Pawtraits which has really allowed me to refine my style. One of my main goals for 2018 is to put on an exhibition. I don't know where, when or how but it's something I would really LOVE to do. Imagine a wall FULL of my drawings and paintings!

I also just wanted to say a huge, massive THANK YOU to everyone who has shared my work, told their friend, left a kind comment or bought something from me this year. You have helped me pay the bills, develop my work and above all have made me incredibly happy. You are all helping me live my dream and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it. Wishing you ALL a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
